Creating Featherwood jewelry begins with laminating a broad palette of natural and dyed veneer into stacks of 300 or so layers. The lamination is cut into blocks, then curves and smaller shapes. These are made into jewelry by precise cutting on band saws, shaping and refining on a high-speed drum sander and finally applying several coats of a durable finish. The technique he uses ensures that no two pieces are ever identical, they're impossible to exactly reproduce. The multilayered earrings go through 50+ separate steps to make and he usually does them in batches, often having at least two styles in production at different stages to keep it interesting. He personally designs and execute all craftwork from start to final finishing.
