Dave is a self taught woodturner and has been woodturning since 2003. He has been a member of the American Associatio of Woodturners since 2003 when he started turning small useful household products. In 2018 Dave joined Segmented Woodturners, which is a chapter of the American Association of Woodturners. Segmenting is a process of cutting wedges from boards to a precise angle to make circle rings which are then cut and glued into rows, stacked and then turned.
Combining a variety of woods is important to Dave's design to create contrast of color and grain. He often combines zebra wood, red and purple heart, wenge, curly maple, oak and others to create the intricate pieces of wood art!
