Kathleen Kvern is an abstract painter based in Minneapolis where she has a studio behind her 1920's bungalow. She works primarily in encaustic and mixed media and her work has been juried into many exhibitions. She has also been featured in Wax Fusion. Her paintings are inspired by the beauty of the natural world, the mystery of the spiritual word and the complexity of her unique worlds.
Her Cairns series is inspired by her encounters with ancient rock formations, standing stones, manmane monuments and piles of pebbles and beach glass during her travels to Scotland, England, Ireland and the North Shore of Lake Superior. Through her process of representing cairns and standing stones, She feels connected to the mysteries of humanity while firmly assured of the connections we share across time.
