Diana Woods has been a professional artist for over 25 years. Always an experimental artist, Woods has worked in oils, watercolors, encaustics, acrylics, assemblage and sculpture. One silver thread or ongoing theme is woven through each piece, however, and that is the symbolic, spiritual connection to nature and the divine. In her latest series of sculptures, Woods work is figurative but is meant to be metaphorical, not simply representational. The world of nature and animals is her constant inspiration and muse. Her studio sits at the base of the Red Canyon just outside the Colorado National Monument, where the ravens frequently visit to check in on her latest creative endeavor. Sometimes they even whisper in her ear.
